L’Oreal Sublime Bronze ProPerfect Airbrush Self-Tanning Mist Product Review

July 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

L’Oreal Sublime BronzeL’Oreal’s Sublime Bronze ProPerfect Airbrush Self Tanning Mist

Pretty much what I expected, I must admit the color of the bottle is probably the worst I can imagine for a self tanner.  There isn’t a woman alive who’s got her wits about her that wants to be orange.  Just seeing the bottle is scary, seriously.

The product has a great 360 degree continuous spray nozzle that is excellent.  You don’t have to rub and it dries quickly.  You do have to remain naked while it dries, so keep that in mind.

The product should be layered on freshly exfoliated skin daily until you get to your desired color.  Just like spray paint you want to keep a nice distance to avoid streaks.  I’ve often thought these tanners should come with a guidestick that you could attach to the bottle that would remind the user to keep their distance.  If you have the option of having someone help you spray that also works well.

I would vigorously recommend this product for the ease of use and overall bronze result, it took me about 5 times to get the deep color I’m looking for on my legs.  The problem is I can’t not mention the AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) that can increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun.  To L’Oreal’s credit it is clearly labeled on the back under “warning”.  People will have to make a personal decision if it’s worth it.

Lavilin Deodorant Cream Eliminates Bacteria

June 12th, 2008 · 10 Comments

Lavilin Underarm cream

I’ve been using for a few weeks — Lavilin Deodorant Cream that is.  I’m done buying whatever’s on sale, or what will look pretty on the bathroom sink, I want something that works and is long-lasting.  This is a revolutionary concept, bye bye daily deodorant duty, you only need to apply Lavilin every few days.

Normally I would apply my regular deodorant in the morning and by night it would be totally ineffective. Lavilin claims to last up to 7 days dependent on lifestyle.  My personal experience has been best when I applied the cream at 5 day intervals.  Isn’t that perfect for travel?  Now you don’t have to bring all that deodorant on vacation with you!  Day 5 is when I noticed odor starting, so to be safe I’ve been reapplying on the fifth morning and every-thing’s worked out perfectly.

I don’t need ANY other deodorant! the nice part is Lavalin is unscented so it does not interfere with any of your other beauty products.  Apply a small amount of Lavalin Deodorant Cream to your freshly washed underarms and carry on about your business.

There is no residue at all, perfect for summer sleeveless, strapless wear.    NO parabens, phthalates, aluminum or alcohol. So what is in it?  Essential oils from Chamomile, Arnica and Calendula work with your body to eliminate bacteria. It is in fact bacteria that causes odor, not sweat, eliminating bacteria is vital.  I’ve heard some natural deodorants can leave you wet and sticky but I felt no wetness while using Lavilin.  It is also water resistant so it’s perfect for summer water sports, give it a try some time soon.  With airlines charging for baggage, it’s a great way to minimize your beauty baggie on short trips.

Shu Uemura’s Pleasure of Japanese Bath Yuzu

June 5th, 2008 · 16 Comments

Shu Uemura Pleasure of Japanese BathJapan is the bathing captial of the world, you can quote me on that.

Almost every store has a humongous bath section and people of all ages, even grimy little boys, look forward to their baths every night.  The whole thing is incredibly relaxing, first a vigorous scrub in a shower and then a soak in the tub in an upright sitting position.

Most of the time, Japanese people soak in plain hot water.  Other times they will throw bath salts in.  Lavender and Yuzu seem to be very popular scents at bath time.

It is believed that Yuzu will warm you up in winter, yuzu has a wonderful citrus scent and you should know by now I LUV citrus scents.  Since many Japanese don’t heat their homes the same way we do in the US, a body-warming citrus bath is usually welcomed.

Now you can experience the Pleasure of a Japanese Bath from the comfort of your own home with Shu Uemura’s bath oil.  It’s amazing! the scent, fresh citrus that infuses the air and your skin.   It makes my skin feel so soft but it’s not at all greasy like some other bath oils can be.  It makes the water white at first but it didn’t warm up my body, maybe I’m too cold blooded, (please note the Shu Uemura product does not claim to warm your body, I’m referring to the old school thoughts on Yuzu).  Luckily I like to run the water extremely hot so my body’s plenty warm as it is.

Pleasure of Japanese Bath is available in Yuzu (citrus fruit), Shobu (no idea), Sakura (Cherry Blossom) and Hinoku (no idea) for $40.  Please note that these bath oils have been re-introduced and originally launched over a decade ago! So don’t miss this chance.

Shaved Skin Milk w/Real Milk Proteins

June 1st, 2008 · No Comments

Skin Milk Shaving MilkI didn’t use this product for the longest, I just assumed it was a skin moisturizer by the packaging but a few weeks ago I noticed it’s actually a shaving milk made with real milk proteins and I was ecstatic.  I love trying new things, so I didn’t even scold the girls for using the last of my Barbasol to make bath beards.

I knew it meant I would dip into the skin milk that much earlier and I have been very pleased with the experience.  Skin Milk is very thin and silky compared to shave cream so it’s a nice consistency.  The scent is what worried me most, because it was described as a light vanilla. When I first opened and applied Skin Milk I caught a whiff of vanilla but luckily the scent is faint and dissapates quickly.
