By my bedside I’ve had a few almost-empty moisturizers. If you were in my home, and standing by my bed (how likely is that? ###consider this foreshadowing###(it will all make sense shortly I promise)) it would surely puzzle you and you’d think I was a beauty hoarder but that is NOT the case at all.

I’ve been waiting to blog about several things and refuse to get rid of them before they’re totally done and accounted for on this blog. If you knew what a neat freak my husband was you’d understand the depth of my commitment on this! Anyway… let’s get to the product shall we?

The Youth - as we know it - is billed as “an extraordinary anti-aging concentrate” and it truly is just that. It’s light – no greasy icky feeling. Smells fresh, just like a fresh squeezed citrus fruit. AND comes in a 1 fl oz pump bottle (I LOVE that it is non-contaminating!). I generally use The Youth by night or days when I will not be out as there is no SPF added but everyone has their own thoughts on that.

Dove’s Visibly Smooth deo

Dove’s got a new anti-perspirant deodorant on the market and I got a free sample a while back. Dove Visibly Smooth is said to “visibly diminish the visual appearance of hair over time.” It contains Pro-Epil Complex with natural extracts and Dove moisturizers.

My experience with the deodorant has been good, it’s easy to apply, smells good (I tried wild rose) and keeps the effects of perspiring down. As far as the softening of hair, it feels like it’s coming in slighty softer than normal in my third week and looks pretty much the same.

Keep in mind I have VERY coarse dark underarm hair (I know TMI) and light skin… it would take a LOT to reduce the visual effect of that contrast. I am for sure a hard customer to please in this venue because of my physical characteristics.

As a survivor of the tortuous epilady, I feel that anything painless that can even slightly reduce my work load in the underarm area is worth it. If you’re on the fence, I think it’s worth a shot, what do you have to lose? it’s not like there’s anything comparable that will “diminish the visual appearance of hair over time” and doesn’t hurt.

The product works for me in the most important aspect, it keeps me totally dry and fresh so I know I”ll be buying Dove Visibly Smooth deodorant again some time soon.

Moo Business Cards

By now most bloggers (and blog readers?) know about the adorable little moo cards. I was pleased to receive a little gift of moo recently and it is absolutely true! good things DO come in small packages!

The same great moo idea but on a full size business card! yay! *ok* have you stopped jumping for joy yet? You can pick up to 50 images for your cards (just like moo), upload your own image and fill in all your tidbits on the back (just like moo). I got mine all the same but wouldn’t it be cute to get different family pics?

I love the weight and size of these cards, pardon me for saying so, but I found the little ones cute but cute is not always a good thing in business. These business size cards are a lot less easy to lose and there’s plenty of space to fill in other important info.

Product Review: Orlane Serum Super Hydratant

The only thing that can cheer me up on a long laundry day is a great product! Up and down the stairs non-stop hauling laundry and all that folding, not to mention managing my sweet little helpers!

Through it all I smiled to myself the whole time because I had Orlane’s Serum Super Hydratant. I love this stuff, it’s light, fresh, has a great scent and glides on smooth! My skin feels great and is so soft I can’t stand it. You just feel the difference when you’re using a quality product and Orlane is it. It goes on so nicely you don’t need a lot and you see the difference immediately. This product is perfect under make up because it’s not greasy or slimy like some other moisturizers. It’s also great on its own without make up like I did today. My skin looked so good I didn’t bother with make up!

Product Picking

What do you consider when picking products? If you have allergies or seriously sensitive skin, that may be your first consideration. If you don’t have those issues, most likely you are looking at the price tag early on in the decision making process.

Some products are just too far out of reach to even bother looking at. I love Dr. Perricone’s line, but a $500+ price tag is just too much to even bother with. I have his cleanser and have used the supplements in the past which I really liked but with 3 college educations to save for, $500+ is out of my league. There are lots of products I’d like and I’m sure work better than cheaper choices.

So, what’s a girl to do? there’s only one way to balance our posh desires with financial responsibility… Picking reasonably priced products in our beauty repertoire! Save where you can, for some it will be on mascara, on others it will be on moisturizers, nail polish or (insert your idea) then splurge on one or two items.

Another way to save is with a signature product, for me, it’s my fragrance, morning, noon and night I’m wearing Chanel Gardenia. This one step saves me time and money, not to mention the dusty clutter of lots of perfume bottles. I just can’t imagine wearing anything else AND it has the added benefit of a nice collection (I’m up to 6) of the same bottle.

What is the Benefit to giving up on a brand?

I have to admit, I’m done with Benefit cosmetics. When I first saw them, I loved the look of the pinup girls and pinks. I had my face done once and bought a face cream I didn’t care for. Then I bought the Bathina stuff from Sephora because it looked so cute but was disapointed by it! Benefit products definately look better in the box than they look/feel on me! I don’t know what it is, just cannot get into their products. It’s to the point that I steer TOTALLY clear of their counter because the look of the products is what gets you, not the quality. When do you give up on a brand?

A while back I bought Stainiac from Sephora.com I remember using it a few times but TOTALLY forgot about it for the past 3 months at least.

I just found it in my husband’s medicine cabinet! What the heck has he been doing?@>!! Anyway, I am back in love with it, it’s back in my make-up bag (my favorite one that is) ready for use!

Girl2004 is into me putting make up on her, I’ve tried giving her a chapstick but she keeps losing it, so the past two days I’ve been putting this on her to blush her cheeks and stain her lips. I really like when I can use one product for two things like that, it’s a good value @ $14 and very practical to use.

Environment is the best way to ensure health

Our environment is the best way to ensure our health, if we live in a mold infested or toxic environment there is no way we can be healthy. It is important to support businesses that feel the same way and take care of the environment, making real efforts to reduce the waste and exhausts. Some times it is cheaper to go with a less environmental friendly choice but in the long run we will all pay a higher price. We will pay through our health care, our life expectancy and our quality of life. It’s not too late to support business that are progressing towards better stewardship of our environment. Environmental Health and Safety, EHS, products are needed, there is a company that is selling these types of products to big businesses EHS Metrics Software is one of them that helps companies comply with government regulations.
