I just finished watching No Ordinary Family.   First impression:

The show is a mashup between Greatest American Hero, Bionic Woman and of course The Incredibles with the addition of a lair or Bat cave.   If the capes and costumes come out I might add Wonder Woman (favorite) and Superman but for now I’ll leave it at that.

The show is not bad, might even be good at some point.  The part I did NOT like was the part when the wife, played by Julie Benz realizes she’s very fast.  Her workmate points out that she’ll always have a high metabolism and can eat whatever she wants and always be a size zero. 

Zero? is what has inspired me to write about this show tonight.  Julie Benz does not look sickly but the size zero sure sounds like it and a comment like that has no place on prime time in my opinion.  I have to safeguard my girls, and even myself from this constant pressure to be thin.  Here I was trying to find a family show but I will have to see a little more before I let my kids watch this if the writers are irresponsible with their statements.  By the way my favorite character is the dad, he’s very realistic and even though he’s a man I totally relate to him!

This video NEVER gets old.  I love the glamour and glitz and I love the way the maid is after her and even bosses her a little.  I wonder if Ms. Bennett was really that nice to her staff and in the morning no less.

I’m really trying to establish morning routines with my kids but it’s hard when you are not made to wake up early and get motivated for the day.  Nonetheless I try to fake it to be a good role model and to get things accomplished.

I won’t even bother with the “plot” as I don’t think that’s the point to this movie.  Instead, watch it for all the beautiful elements, the perfect skin and artistic rebellion.  The dance sequences will not hurt you I promise!  This movie weaves in some mythology, ONJ portrays one of Zeus’ beautiful daughters.  She’s a muse.  So what beauty tips can we gather from Xanadu?  the fashions are still inspiring and relevant so look it up if you haven’t already seen Xanadu.

Have you ever been frustrated by the waste of lipstick at the end of the tube that doesn’t twist up?  I’m guessing most makeup wearers can relate.  The regular response is to scoop out the end onto a makeup pallette small container and slightly heat and voila, you can use your color.

On tonight’s Shark Tank on ABC, a lady brought in a proposal for Lipstick Remix which is a kit that turns your leftover lipsticks into another lipstick using a mold.

I don’t know about this, doesn’t seem to impress the judges and the idea does nothing for me either. Thoughts?

I’ve been on pins and needles since last week’s Real Housewives of New Jersey season finale!  The table flip @ Lu Nello’s  and harsh words between Danielle and everyone else made me absolutely positive that I’d never see Teresa Giudice, my favorite housewife (left) and Danielle Staub (right) posing side by side for photos.  Photo evidence that one should never, ever, say never… they are obviously at the very least on civil terms.

I’ll be watching the Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion show tonight and Thursday @ 9 p.m. est on Bravo.

A joint project for actress Audrey Tautou and Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Train de Nuit is set on the Orient Express - time unspecified but obviously some time after 1921 (the year Chanel No. 5 was created.)  The imagery is dark and luxurious, cramped and steamy but in a very refined way.  It’s quite clear that the main guy is not after some hot chick for a minute, he’s looking for love and that Chanel No. 5 scent has sealed the deal. 

Train de Nuit has brought the average woman (if you will consider the young, gorgeous, private sleeper car Tautou such) into the fantasy of wearing Chanel’s No. 5.  This was a critical element missing for me in 2004′s Chanel No 5 film starring Nicole Kidman.

Chanel No. 5 is legendary, there is no other fragrance so well known throughout the world yet so mysterious.   Be it on a celeb or the average miss there’s something special about wearing a scent that’s been through so much.  Myths and legends about the perfume are plentiful, probably some true and others false but one thing is for sure, this short film should have a sequel…

Although season 2 premiers on February 17th, media who wanted the inside scoop on the reality antics and potential catfights among the housewives were left out in the cold as Alex and Simon van Kempen had to remain mum on the exciting details!
