WOW! is all I can say… Chanel has definitely got me brandwashed because I somehow ended up in front of the Chanel counter yesterday. I have had Blue Satin on my mind ever since I saw it on Makeup Bag.
Some factors that play into my theory of my brandwashing are: I don’t particluarly like the color dark blue, I haven’t had great experiences with Chanel nail polish, I haven’t even been wearing/thinking nail polish in months because I haven’t had time for nail maintenance and I wasn’t planning on spending $20 on nail polish. In spite of all this I walked out with my little bottle of blueness.
Chanel has this unexplainable hold on me, I love the packaging, the look, the history - everything. It’s just better when it’s Chanel. I hear Chanel and I buy buy buy, it’s almost become a command in my vocabulary. Blue Satin seems very blue and shimmery in the bottle and I couldn’t wait to get it on.
I applied my base coat as normal, then two coats of blue satin and a top coat. I didn’t give it much thought but this morning I really looked at it in the light, it is really dark. It’s very pretty but it’s definitely a dark navy blue / almost black and there is very little shimmer to it. Next time I apply I am going to try only one coat and see the effect. I don’t really expect it to stay looking nice more than 5 or 6 days, I do a lot around the house with my hands and it takes a toll on polish.
I don’t normally wear such dark polish but I like to live my life without ruling anything out and being open to try new things, especially new Chanel things! I am strongly considering going back to get another bottle or two. Blue Satin will go great with all your neutrals and blue jeans so have a little fun and try out the “it” color for Spring 2008.

This sounds great! I like the dark colors but I don’t do a lot with my fingernails as far as color- I stay very light. I do love a great color on my toes year-round.

it’s true us moms are harder to keep in color because we do so much around the house. toes are a great way to get some color…
thanks for coming by!

i have this blue satin chanel polish however i am extremely disappointed with the quality. it typically chips the SAME day i apply it. i would never expect this from what is considered to be such a sophisticated brand.
