all I could think was ewwwww! I’m guessing I’m behind the times but I just saw fake toe nails at Walmart the other day. I can’t believe it. I can’t think of something more uncomforable then having that glued to my toenails. This is one beauty product I can’t get with, I have used fake nails and tips in the past and have been satisfied with the way they look but they have damaged my nails incredibly, I couldn’t imagine going through that on my toe nails.
Call me old fashioned, I’m sticking with my regular pedis until further notice.

SteepingBeauty, I haven’t seen these fake toenails, but don’t be too creeped out: plenty of people are missing toenails thanks to surgery (raising hand) and would love nothing more than to have a way to be able to wear sandals without mortification. Acrylics don’t do a good job, as they create something that’s not smooth on the underside, a fake nail which digs in when wearing shoes and can be terribly painful. Still, having said all this, I can’t imagine how a Walmart fake toenail can be applied such that it doesn’t keep coming off all the time, like when you put on a shoe or just plain brush your toe (not even very hard) against the sofa.

thanks for your comment. I’ve reflected on it and apologize for the way I expressed my dislike for the product. I can totally understand wanting to look “normal”. I guess it’s something I take for granted, isn’t it always that way.
I’m not sure that this product would help a missing toenail, as you said, I doubt it would hold and then on skin might be paintful. In any case, fake toe nails seem to be a big thing because I was in the dollar store today and they had some too!
off to visit you…

You saw fake toenails at the DOLLAR STORE? Hokay; now I’m confused. Are we talking like nail tips here? I was thinking something more like Lee Press-On Nails (which would be useful-ish for those of us missing a nail who’d like to wear sandals for an afternoon, if we could Super-Glue the thing on), but if you’re talking *tips*, then I can’t see what earthly purpose these things would serve!

I had my toenail removed when I was in 7th grade. Now that im 20, I want to wear cute shoes, but its embarressing!! =(
Do you guys think If I were to try to use the fake toe-nail….super glueing it on would ruin my skin? Is there another way to put it on with damaging my skin????

Is there anybody that knows the answer..or that can help me….

CourtneyU, SuperGlue doesn’t hurt your skin. (Matter of fact, it’s used in place of BandAids to hold cuts together, and is even used in surgery!) Bear in mind that it’s not gonna hold forever, though, as your skin sloughs off. I’ll glue a fake nail on to my existing (damaged) nail and then use some acrylic to finish binding it, and then I’m good for the summer. If you haven’t any nail at all to which to glue the fake nail, then you’re only gonna get a few days out of it, but hey! That’s waaaaay better than no nail at all, right?
So here’s what you do: soak your foot to soften then skin, then scrub the toe to remove any dead, flaky skin. Dry your fooot REALLY well (use a blow dryer set to “low” to make sure it’s extra-dry.) Then use *just* a drop of SuperGlue, and hold the nail with the glue in place until the glue dries. (If you use too much glue, it won’t stick. Better to use too little than too much.) Before the glue dries, you’ll be able to adjust the nail a *little* bit, but your best bet is to aim correctly and get it right the first time.
After a few days, your skin will slough off; if you wanna wear another nail, repeat the process of soaking your foot and getting rid of any dead skin.
(If you glue the nail to dead skin, the dead skin will just fall off, and there goes your nail!)
Almost forgot: I have one more tip: unless you plan to be putting your feet up on a table where people can scrutinize your feet, I have, on occasion, “faked it” by applying nail polish to my toe where I have no nail. Peoples’ eyes are several feet away, so unless they’re studying my feet up close, they don’t know there’s no nail under the polish. Consider trying this, too. Again, the polish doesn’t last long thanks to the skin flaking off, but it’s another trick to try.
Good luck; I hope you find some *super*-cute shoes to wear!

thank-you lipstick face that was very informative. I wonder if it would be easier for people to find if we made it into a guest post?
I appreciate you taking the time to post it.

Hi, Delphine! I’m not altogether sure what “Guest Post” refers to, but if you’re asking for permission, knock yourself out!
