15angiekay, I hate to tell you this, but all those things (KrazyGlue, SuperGlue, skin bandages, etc), are all the same thing: cyanoacrylate. (You can look it up in wikipedia.) The reason I can hold fake nails and MMA (acrylic) to my toes is that I still have some nail left. Your best bet is to try asking a podiatrist what you can do. For all we know, some sort of implant has been invented for people like you. (For your sake, I hope so! After my surgeries, my nails fell off, and oh, how I hated waiting until the nails grew in! It killed me not being able to wear sandals, or peep-toe shoes or, for that matter, letting anyone see my feet. I can imagine your pain.) Best of luck to you!

I also would like to know from Kendra how this is done, I've used the nail glue, superglue and neither to no avail, they have fell off in hours when my toes or skin moves the least bit the glue lets go of the skin. I've thought about Krazyglue, but I've read that it will hurt the skin, maybe even burn it? Also, another thought was the "new skin bandage" stuff that people use for cuts and scrapes to hold skin together instead of bandages, since it is made to stick "skin" together, I was thinking this may work better? Not sure..........has anyone else tried this?

Kendra. If you are still coming to this thread I would like to know the order in which you use the super glue nail glue and the toupee tape. I have purchased both but not sure how to do this.

I have used the fake toenails before but they come off quickly so I am anxious to try your solution. I have both of my big toenails removed years ago and I miss having nice painted toenails in the summer.
Thanks!

I have been using the fake toenails at walmart for a couple of years now. I had both big nails removed in 5th grade. Best thing I have found is the supernail glue along with doubleside toupee tape. Works well except in beach sand.

hi there, have no idea about surgically putting one on. I did some searches and can't find a fake nail so I guess there isn't much available right now.

I haven't seen what it looks like but I'm interested to see what it looks like. I'd say embrace it, sometimes things like that can set you apart!! like you said the peep toe shoes usually show the big toe.

Let me know if you come up with a good solution.

best,
D

Hi! I would just like to say that I was born premature with 2 birth defects, one being clubbed feet. One of my toe nails on my left foot is missing along with one of my finger nails. My mother and I never understood what and why it happened. As a matter of fact... Neither did the doctors. Im 19 years old now and I hate to wear open toe shoes and sandels because one of my toe nails is missing. But I LOVE SHOES!!! I can't get enough of them. So I try to find cute closed-toe or peep-toe shoe so that people can't see all of my toes. I paint my toes sometimes and want to show them off, but I'm embarressed. So Im online trying to figure out a way to, I guess, replace the nail and I come across this website. I've tried the fake toe nails before and found that it doesn't work well in the pool or in water period. But it held up pretty well.
The only thing is that it didn't look like my exact real nail, but it sure came close. I was wondering... Is there anyway that I can get a nail put on surgically that would last longer? Or can a nail even be put on my toe at all?

Thanks 4 the time! XO

thank-you lipstick face that was very informative. I wonder if it would be easier for people to find if we made it into a guest post?

I appreciate you taking the time to post it.
