I’ve been inspired for some time by the idea of roughing it with style. 

Eva Gabor’s portrayal of a glamorous woman living a rural lifestyle on Green Acres could sum it up in a nutshell for every day roughing it up with style.  However, most modern women would not agree to that “you are my wife” obligation like Eva’s character did and be dragged off onto a rural farm.

More often, women get invited on short trips, perhaps camp-outs but at the same time they want to look and feel great.  I remember one episode of the Nick & Jessica Simpson show when they go camping and Jessica brings her white Louis Vuitton purse along with all the “essentials” — very glampy if you ask me and deserving of a mention on my glampy thoughts post! 

Glamorous Campers

…aka Glampers, generally agree to temporarily expose themselves to the elements, so I will use a television episode which follows this more realistic scenario IMO. 

In true glamping style, Mrs. Oleson (Little House on the Prairie, played by Katherine MacGregor) invites herself along and imposes her glampiness on the Ingalls on one of my favorite LHOP episodes EVER ”The Campout”. (psst: you can watch it on youtube)

Mrs. Oleson (hereinafter referred to as OG ”original glamper”) is sure to annoy and tickle you silly with her fancy parasols and tea service.

Glampers may not have come up with the camping idea but that may not matter, if they turn into a glamp-zilla the whole trip could become one fabulous event.  

Insisting on all the finest… silver utensils, 100% wool &/or cashmere blankets, crystal plates for the smores made with Tomblerone chocolate, big heavy luggage, — the possibilities are endless so…  I will keep my thoughts to useful and beauty products for this post. 

Glampers may have an aversion to squatting to pee, going without makeup, nail polish and/or all the little indulgences that make life so much fun! 

5 things I will be  putting in my camping bag…

• You know that I love candles!  and for that reason you will not be surprised to see a candle tops my short list on things to have while glamping!  This candle is different!  Scandle lights up your environs AND gives a not so subtle hint that you wouldn’t refuse a massage! Available in travel tins.  Beware: be sure you’re not going somewhere too hot, Scandles have a low melt point and could melt before you get to use it!   Visit or buy Scandle candles at http://www.abodycandle.com/
• As mentioned above, Glampers may have an aversion to crouching like a commoner to tinkle.  That’s when glampers can turn to their Go Girl.  An ultra useful gadget that looks like a pink plastic funnel, it will get you going while standing up.  No need to squat or hover, just go!  Visit or buy Go Girl at http://www.go-girl.com
• One makeup palette to face glamping day or night.  Even though you are wanting to look your very best, you don’t want to lug around a lot of makeup that may melt or get lost!  Good palettes have great mirrors and makeup.  Check out Napoleon Perdis’, NP sets (available at Target and Target.com).
• Glampers need fast and effective makeup removal even when water is not accessible.  Makeup remover towelettes are the way to go while camping or otherwise traveling.  There are lots of different makeup remover wipes to choose from as you know.  Right now I”m loving MUD (Make-Up Designory) makeup remover towelettes because they feel so good AND leave my skin feeling refreshed and toned in one easy step.  Check them out at http://www.mudshop.com
• Although fragrance does NOT generally make the camping list due to the possibility of attracting winged things.  I am going to make an exception the next time I go glamping because I of my love for Crazy sticks  by crazylibelleule, the cutest (IMO) solid fragrances – they are a must for my next glamping trip.

Now that the rain has stopped in New England I will have pics of our very own glamping adventures.  Keep on camping while glamorous!
