I was just on PBS and noticed this short film on the Independent Lens called the House of Elegance. I was just thinking about this blog and if it’s important or not. Why do women take so much time out of their lives to look their best?
This film brought me back to my fundemental belief that the beauty industry can change lives by improving peoples’ disposition and lifting their spirits. Just wish the beauty industry would stop with the starving models and overdone airbrushing.

And while I’m thinking about PBS, be sure to check your local listings for Companeras. A film about Latinas who’ve created the first female Mariachi band. Beauty-full and talented! I’ll be tuning in for sure!
