I received The Little Black Book of Style by Nina Garcia on Friday and haven’t been able to put it down! Nina Garcia is the fashion director of Elle Magazine and maybe you’ve seen her on Project Runway?
I’ve been carrying it around by hand and in my purse, it’s gone in the car and back to the house several times… I even let it sit on my kitchen island once which is a big deal for me since I don’t normally let ANYTHING sit on my island. This intrigued my husband because he knows my kitchen island is totally off limits, it is meant for food prep and nothing else! Anyway…
The Little Black Book of Style is a great little book filled with quotes and inspiration for any woman but more importantly Nina talks about fashion as a way to communicate. The point is that fashion is a “quality of your creative character” and that is not something that necessarily comes naturally but is acquired with time and experimentation. Much like a writer tries out different styles we must find our “fashion voice” and cultivate it.
This book has loads of tricks and tips, advice on colors everything you need to find your eternal style. The illustrations by Ruben Toledo are gorgeous and so girly, don’t judge this book by its’ cover, the illustrations start and will keep you looking over and over again.
Good taste is lightly seasoned with new trends but relies heavily on old favorites and here Nina Garcia gives wonderful advice on how to figure out what will make you look and feel your best.
