The second scent from Estee Lauder’s Private Collection is named after Amber Ylang Ylang and created by Aerin Lauder. The first scent in the collection, Estee Lauder Tuberose Gardenia just isn’t my cup of tea. I must admit, I wasn’t very sure I wanted to try this one because of that fact. It would have been easy to ignore this latest launch but in retrospect, I’m a glutton for punishment.
Thankfully, this scent was no punishment at all, in fact I have the exact opposite opinion from the first wearing. This latest scent is light and fresh, young and very elegant. I could easily wear this everyday for the rest of my life and be happy.
At first it’s a burst of citrus that leads into a spiced floral scent. With ingredients like Geranium Oil, Ylang Absolute, Rose Absolute and Cinnamon Ceylon the fragrance is sensual with a depth like no other perfume I’ve tried lately. The drydown is described as a creamy Amber / Sandalwood / Vanilla mix. To my nose the sandalwood takes over the drydown and is a delightful ending.
