Welcome Aboard the first in a series of Summer Air Travel posts all about my thoughts on air travel. The first in the series is about the hot topic of the fees for checking a bag. The New York Post reported that American Airlines is now charging $15 for the FIRST checked bag. Other airlines are charging $25 for the second checked bag and don’t you dare try to overstuff your first, they will charge you if you go over the weight limit.
All this means that you will have to pack wisely and carry-on yourself. For you beauty-holics it’s the perfect time to splurge on a chic carry-on bag to house it all. Here is my favorite, the Boxford from Longchamp pays for itself in 20 trips ($15 x 20). If you booked your travel well in advance of these fees and charges, it’s worth trying to get your money back. If not, is the flying public going to be responsible for all their increases and fees as they occur?

Great, that means everyone will be taking carry-ons so overhead luggage will be completely jammed…:-(
Nice Longchamp, will have to check it out.
I agree, that’s actually our only hope that they get far behind… but you know they’ll just change all the flight times so it still looks like they’re on time… the same way they factor in the time on the tarmac now!
We can of course console ourselves with designer luggage!!
Although in the current environment, with how tickets and services are priced, I would have expected that unbundling passenger travel from checked baggage would fail to raise net revenue for an airline.
