Today, June 8, 2008,  is World Ocean Day!   To celebrate, La Mer will donate $100,000 to  Oceana in honor of La Mer founder, Dr. Max Huber.  Dr. Huber grew to love and appreciate the beauty and fragile ecosystem of the ocean while researching ingredients for the living legend, Creme de la Mer.

Living on the coast of Maine, the beach is a daily part of our lives, weather permitting of course!  Beach combing is our favorite activity.  Throwing glass in the ocean is polluting but I can’t help but stop in my tracks when I see a tumbled, perfectly rubbed smooth piece of pitted sea glass.  The power of the ocean is awesome.  I’d like to share some picks of my recent ocean finds in appreciation of World Ocean Day.

My biggest thanks go out to Elke Von Freudenberg of the Beauty Blog Network.  She showed me and Teri of Splendicity and Beautiful Makeup Search and Aging Fabulous a good time all around LA!  We were all over the city and surf, had a delicious deli meal @ the charming Canter’s Deli.  We got to see a lot of the sites that were on my list with lots of insider information from Elke.  It was amazing, I wrote a list of all the sites but of course it is playing hide and seek!  I can tell you the highlight was Grumman’s Chinese Theater and Santa Monica Beach.  My favorite I Love Lucy episode takes place right outside the theater and I’ve always wanted to see it first hand and now Elke has made that come true!  I’m holding a pajama party in her honour at the next get together seriously!

The second day of the Total Beauty L.A. Summit was held at the Intelligent Beauty headquarters.  We were treated to presentations all day on new-to-me brands like RedPoint and RAW NATURAL Beauty. I really enjoyed the day, the facilities were amazing and I almost had to pinch myself to realize where I was.  

I sat between Tia Williams from Shake Your Beauty and Allison from The Advice Sisters (both of them got awesome make-overs during the conference).  Nancy from Beauty411 also got a makeover but I didn’t capture it — I didn’t get many pictures in the end so it’s good I at least got a souvenir.

I luv luv luv souvenirs and the guys and dolls at Intelligent Beauty hooked us up with mugs… did you see the mug shot up above? enough about L.A. for now, I’m back to my Maine morning view of nothing…

Any Dancing with the Stars’ fans out there?  Have you seen this gorgeous man Cristian de la Fuente?  You can see him live on May 3rd in Los Angeles during Macy’s event for PADRES Contra El Cancer (Parents Against Cancer).
