I didn’t use this product for the longest, I just assumed it was a skin moisturizer by the packaging but a few weeks ago I noticed it’s actually a shaving milk made with real milk proteins and I was ecstatic.  I love trying new things, so I didn’t even scold the girls for using the last of my Barbasol to make bath beards. 

I knew it meant I would dip into the skin milk that much earlier and I have been very pleased with the experience.  Skin Milk is very thin and silky compared to shave cream so it’s a nice consistency.  The scent is what worried me most, because it was described as a light vanilla. When I first opened and applied Skin Milk I caught a whiff of vanilla but luckily the scent is faint and dissapates quickly.

Completely Bare

I really love summer but I dread the constand pedis and hair removal I have to do this time of year.  I came across a great website that has tons of info about getting that Completely Bare look.  There is a downloadable instructional video which I haven’t watched yet but I’m really dying to once I get a chance.  The best part is Completely Bare will teach how to wax like an expert in the comfort of your own home!!  I need to know more about this!

Extending the life of your Pedicure

Since you’ll be nice and waxed you are sure to want to spend more time at the beach in that new bikini.  Here are some great pedi-extending tips from Neri Ortega, nail expert of Butterfly Studio Salon.

1. Following a hand massage, it is vital to clean the nail bed twice with acetone or acetone free nail polish remover to make sure that there are no emollients left on the nail- a clean, oil free nail bed is the most important part of a lasting manicure, as it creates a clean surface to begin on.

2. Continue with a protein based base coat- this is key in keeping polish from chipping. A strengthening treatment like OPI’s Nail Envy, works wonderfully to keep nails strong, and polish from chipping.

3. Following the application of polish, a good basic top coat is needed. Neri recommends Essie, and prefers classic top coats over “quick dry” as she finds that quick dry top coats tend to peel faster.

Pushing back cuticles rather than cutting them will also help a manicure last longer. To keep nail polish looking shiny and new, and cuticles from looking dull and ashy, she recommends a good cuticle moisturizer like Solar Oil- the oil treatment will multi-task to keep your manicure going for extra days.
 
With tips this easy, the hardest part will be choosing your favorite color!

On the first day of the first Total Beauty Summit, the hosts gave to us, a fab beauty tour around LA!  It was uh-mazing!  

We started off at Kate Somerville’s newly re-vamped spaces.  I can’t imagine a more beautiful or restful environment.  You’ve got to see the white room, it is the most stunning room I’ve ever seen in my life, lots of white layers with touches of the sea all around and a restful fireplace.

The second stop was L’Oreal’s store in the Beverly Center, the space is fun and lively designed with several semi-circular sections.  The outside of the sections is the buying space, if you know what you’re looking for you can graze and shop in those sections.  If you’re looking to test and try on product then head to the middle, there you’ll find trained professionals that will help you pick products or you can just play with all the makeup.

Surreal is the only word that can explain our next stop, Anastasia’s Beverly Hills Salon WITH a meet and greet with Anastasia herself! One lucky blogger even got her brows done!  Right before we left, I asked Anastasia a question and lucked out with a quick consult and repair on my brows which was so helpful.  I have let my brow waxer, take too much off the middle over the years, funny what a fresh set of eyes can see, lucky for me, my brows grow like crazy, so I’ll be able to repair in a few weeks.

The last stop was @ the Murad spa which had the most impressive crew to welcome us.  Dr. Murad is always innovative, scouring the world for ingredients that have never been used in packaged cosmetics.  Since the Dr. was travelling, I seized the opportunity to ask his son, Jeff a question near and dear to my heart.  Would Murad ensure the ingredients they used were obtained through Fair Trade?  I’m very happy to report that he not only knew about Fair Trade, he’s taken active steps towards the goal so I hope we’ll hear some great news soon! 

All in all it was the most exciting day ever!  It will last me through many long nights of blogging alone in the cold! There’s lots more coming up from LA once I find my camera cord! ARGGGH!!!

ooh how I love the packaging of this little product!  that bow is just too much, amazing little present for a girlfriend.  Rosie Jane Cheek Gloss comes in the cutest little white compact with mirror.  The idea is to have a little color on cheeks that isn’t dry which is great for a day where you don’t really want to wear make up.  Luv the Cheek Gloss on the lips for a look that defines lips without looking like you’re wearing anything.
