NARS Cosmetics challenges you with their trademarked slogan and book.

Makeup Your Mind by François Nars is the legendary makeup guru’s directive to women on how to wear makeup, giving them the tools to experiment with cosmetics and showing them how to enhance natural beauty to express their personal style. A pure makeup (rather than make-over) book, Makeup Your Mind™ consists of 63 before and after photographs of models from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and with faces that range from the classically beautiful to unique faces full of character.

I need to tote that book to the beach with me for some serious absorption into my psyche.  It seems so easy, just make up your mind, but what do you want?!  I can’t read your mind for you, but right now I’m loving a little pot of Lip Lacquer.  The shade is Vagabond and it’s a saucy brown color.  I’m not crazy about cosmetics that aren’t self sufficient but in this case it’s worth it.  I DO recommend a lip brush for application so you don’t get your fingers all gunky.  You’ve got to check out some of the other lip lacquers, loving the Hot Pink, Capucine and Baby Doll.

Shu Uemura has released their newest thing for your lips, Rouge Unlimited Crystal Shine makes it’s debut with 17 lip colors with professional grade hyper pigment.  The formula has water-capturing molecules that will hydrate your lips while shining them up with light-reflective pearls.  

Here are some tips from shu uemura’s Principal Makeup Artist, Jason Hoffman… 

-For a light glossy stain, apply directly from the tube.
-If you want a slightly heavier shine, use a brush to apply. The brush will pick up more product and blend it evenly on the lips.
-For more color depth and long lasting wear, pair the crystal shine with a pencil.  Try to use a pencil that is similar in color and remember to fill in the lips, avoiding the outline left alone when the shine wears off.
-As with all of our lipsticks, crystal shine is great for eyes and cheeks.  Use a synthetic foundation brush and apply on the apples. (the colors look very fresh and the shimmer offers a beautiful sheen)
-For the eyes, use a synthetic concealer brush. Beiges and browns will be the easiest to wear on the eyes as reds and oranges can often make you look tired.
-Every woman should own the shade WH (white) 002S.  It is so versatile! It can be used alone for a light glossy finish or layered over ANY lip color.  It will lighten the color and give it a hint of pink shimmer.
-The shade BG (beige) 901S is also a must have for anyone who likes wear a smoky eye.  It is the perfect beige that compliments browns, purples, greens, blues and black.

Keep on Shining!

Redundant title I know but there’s no other way to explain how I feel about it.  Thanks for kissing me Dior! I love the super sparkle and glimmer of this lip gloss, it’s got little shimmering specks in it. Yesterday I wore it alone and today I put it over a blah MAC color and it totally revived my lips.  It’s not at all sticky but be sure to use a tiny-licious amount to be sure!  DiorKiss has the Wonder Booster Complex, I didn’t notice anything particularly plumping about this gloss though, just a great basic gloss.  When in doubt buy it anyway!
