Congrats to Kristina Mladenovic (France) on her victory against Daria Gavrilova (Russia) on day 15 of the French Open at Roland Garros, June 7, 2009. Eva Longoria-Parker and Tony Parker attended the French Open in Paris… don’t they look cute sitting under that umbrella together?
Don’t be sad if you missed it, France is a bit far for many of us so maybe the US Open will be a bit more convenient.
Tickets are on sale for the US Open August 31 – September 13. Growing up, we went to Flushing Meadows Park almost every Saturday. Winter walks and indoor ice-skating - and sometimes visiting that very boring museum on top of the skate rink. My father always played soccer in the summer in the fields and when the Cosmos were playing @ Shea Stadium we were at every game. Some of my best childhood memories were in that park. Roller skating through the zoo and petting farm were so much fun, going round and round on the carousel running through the Unisphere fountains. No matter what event, we always felt safe and there were often Guardian Angels roaming around. I could go on and on, I LOVE Flushing Meadows!!
With all of that, I’ve never attended a tennis event there! I’ve come close quite a few times so I’m hoping this might be my year. The first ever family day is September 1st, 2009 the goal is to instill a love of tennis in the youth. I’ve taken my kids to Flushing Meadows a few times when we were in NY but I am strongly considering keeping them out of school and getting there for this event!
