The Week In Review
Yesterday was Halloween, did you notice? in New England, Halloween is an all week even, parties everywhere, parades and talk of costumes and hayrides not to mention a few smashed pumpkins. However, Halloween night seemed pretty dismal in my neighborhood. People didn’t seem in the mood for dressing up and handing out candy.
Of course the kids got more than enough anyway! and one costume that popped up again and again on the trick-or-treat trail was Tinkerbell. I’m sure it had a lot to do with the new Disney Tinkerbell movie which I got to watch on opening day courtesy of Netflix (woohoo).
My take on the Tinker Bell movie was that it was ok, I know she’s the most famous fairy of all but I would have liked it better if she’d been the fiesty, vindictive Tink we grew to know from Peter Pan & Wendy. Another fairy could have been created as a sweet version and take the lead. It really bothers me when old characters are given a new identity, why not make a new character instead?! Ok, I’m over it. Both of my girls LOVED it of course, the imagery is vibrant and colorful and the story is a great message of being true to yourself, who you are, where you come from which I do like. In any event, I can’t wait for the other three Tink stories!
The Weekend Read
There is no official weekend read, the tremendous amount of magazines under my bed and under my vanity have got to go! I plan to pour through them all, put them in the minivan, and distribute to every available waiting room! I just finished last week’s weekend read, One Fifth Avenue and will post a short review tomorrow. Be on the lookout for it!
The Touch of Fragrance
This week’s touch of fragrance is the untried but highly anticipated, fairy themed fragrance by Van Cleef and Arpels. Van Cleef & Arpels Feerie is described as a floral woodsy scent with base notes of Iris Butter and Haitian vetiver. While the heart notes of Bulgarian Rose and rose essences bring a warm and festive radiance to Egyptian Jasmine… soft, senual sophistication. I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for this one, if that’s not enough look at the gorgeous bottle… see the little fairy on the branch?
Don’t forget Daylight Saving’s Time!
